Review: The Haunted Trail in Holley

While the list of available haunted attractions in the Greater Rochester area seems to grow year by year, what seems to be growing just as quickly is the price. It’s not at all uncommon to be asked to pay $20 (or more) for a single admission. In some cases, depending on your haunted experience, the amount of money you shell out might leave you feeling a little bit cheated. We’ll we’re here to tell you that you don’t need to ‘break the bank’ with your family this weekend to enjoy some good old fashioned Halloween fun.
One family owned and operated attraction; “The Haunted Trail in Holley” does a nice job of satisfying your appetite for Halloween fun and won’t drain your wallet in the process. Located at 16767 Ridge Road, “The Haunted Trail in Holley” is situated behind a private residence with plenty of free parking roadside. Now in its 8th year of operation, this attraction is an outside ‘walking tour’ style haunt, leading its “victims” through eerie and dimly lit paths filled with spirits, spectres, and the occasional homicidal maniac. (I should also warn you in advance about the clowns. Why are clowns so freaking creepy these days? Aren’t they supposed to be happy?)
This attraction will take you anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to get through, depending on the number of people in your group and the speed in which everyone makes their way through the haunt. We had to do a little pushing on our end to keep some of our ‘not so brave’ souls moving.
Admission is $5.00 and children 12 and younger are free. This is a CASH ONLY attraction with no ATM on premises, so keep that in mind before venturing out. They also have a special this weekend (their final weekend of operation for the 2014 Haunt Season) where four adult ticket purchases get one additional admission FREE. (Who doesn’t love FREE!?!) The best part; all of the proceeds for this attraction are being donated. Every year, the owners select a new recipient for the funds, and this year, children with Cancer are the beneficiaries. A portion of the proceeds are also donated to two local fire departments.
George Perrin, the owner of “The Haunted Trail”, has done a nice job with this attraction. His creativity and love for Halloween is evident throughout your haunted walk. His ghosts and goblins also do a nice job when it comes to scaring unsuspecting attendees. As your exiting the attraction, warm yourself by the fire and refresh with some coffee, cider, or other seasonal treats at the concession stand.
The Haunted Trail in Holley is an excellent example of a homegrown haunted experience that your entire family can enjoy, without taking out a second mortgage on your house to get in. We hope you’ll go out this weekend on Saturday (7pm-10pm) and/or Sunday  (7pm-930pm) to visit George and his ghouls.  Have a great time!
